Information

The purpose of the instruction is to convey to ordinary people how to properly submit a missing person report with the help of international non-governmental communities and charitable organizations. We understand how difficult it is to obtain qualified assistance, especially in challenging circumstances. Please follow each step of the instruction.

Together with this application, you have received a list of files for contacting international organizations, charitable foundations, etc. (International Red Cross Community, Ukrainian Red Cross Society, UN Refugee Agency).

  1. Prepare documents for the application, or information about the missing person (full name, date of birth, information about the place and method of last contact, phone number, etc.).
  1. Fill out the forms for the Red Cross application; they need to be submitted primarily at the place of location. If you are in Poland, choose the file for the necessary country. If you are in Ukraine, choose the regional center file where you are located. The email and other necessary information for the application are already included in each file.
  1. If you are abroad or searching for a person missing during migration, you also need to fill out and send an application to the UN Refugee Agency. If you are in Ukraine, send the request to the Ukrainian branch. If you are outside Ukraine, send the request to the Polish branch, as they handle cases involving refugees from Ukraine.
  1. Be patient; once you send applications to these organizations, they should provide a response confirming that the application has been accepted to search for the missing person.
  1. Receive an email with information about the searched person. The Red Cross, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Armed Forces of Ukraine, or UN may already have information about this person, and you could receive it within 3 days.
  1. If the information for this request is absent, an investigation to find the missing person will begin.
  1. The Red Cross, UN, and other organizations have already helped hundreds of thousands of people find their relatives, friends, and acquaintances. However, it is important to remember that complete information about the whereabouts of a missing person is only provided to relatives. Others will receive information on whether the person has been found and their condition.

In this archive, you will find templates for applications to the Red Cross in all European Union countries—this is necessary if you are outside Ukraine. They are labeled with the names of the countries. If you are in Ukraine, in the “Ukraine” folder, you will find templates for applications to the Red Cross society of each region—you need the one where you are located. Separately, in the “UN” folder, you will find a template for applications to the Ukrainian and Polish branches of the UN.
